bodytext => protected'<p><strong>The Bundeszentrale für gesundheitliche Aufklärung (BZgA) has pu blished some initial results of a representative survey of women and men abo ut their contraceptive behaviour and knowledge. The survey was conducted in December 2018.</strong></p>
<p>It was determined as part of the study wha t contraceptive methods adult women and men use. The study was interested in the respondents’ information behaviour, their preferred sources of inform ation and their knowledge on the topic of contraception.</p>
<p>A total o f 992 sexually active women and men between the ages of 18 and 49 participat ed in the study. The survey was conducted with the help of computer-supporte d telephone interviews.<br />
At its core the current survey is a repeat of the studies on contraceptive behaviour conducted on behalf of the BZgA in 2 003, 2007 and 2011. </p>

bodytext => protected'<p>The goal of this survey is to obtain reliable data about the attitudes an d behaviours of young people and their parents, as well as young adults in t he Federal Republic of Germany regarding matters of sexuality and contracept ion. The focal topics will be sexuality education in schools and the home, f irst sexual experiences as well as knowledge and experiences regarding contr aception.</p>
<p><strong>What is special about this study</strong> < /p>
<p>This study is special, firstly, because it enables a longitudinal comparison and this therefore capable of revealing long-term trend developme nts about attitudes and behaviours. Secondly, it puts a spotlight on the sit uation in the home, since by surveying both young people and their parents, connections can be made that would not be possible if the survey focused sol ely on young people.</p>
<p>In the last major survey in 2014/2015 18–25 -year-olds were surveyed for the first time. By including young adults (here : without a parallel survey of their parents), there are also intersections with studies conducted among the adult population. Furthermore, internationa l comparisons are made possible. </p>
<p>The full survey report will be published in autumn 2021.</p>

bodytext => protected'<p>The BZgA has been analysing the attitudes and behaviour of young people r egarding sex education, sexuality and contraception since 1980. Youth sexual ity 2014/15 is the eighth study in this ongoing series.<br />

The g oal of the survey was to obtain empirical data, which, because of the repres entative nature of the samples, would allow reliable statements to be made a bout the attitudes and behaviours of young people in the Federal Republic of Germany, and – for young people of German background – of their parents , with regard to sexuality education.<br />
<br />
The current study follo ws on from previous studies with the express goal of revealing trends among young people. However, it does more than just continue to describe trends: i t also differs with respect to its altered sample. This was the first time t hat young adults between the ages of 18 and 25 were included in the study. T he extension of the age span allows the BZgA to pursue the developments as t he subjects transition from being minors to young adults; there is no resili ent data on this age group in the previous studies. The report at hand prese nts the results from the survey of 14–25-year-olds. It summarizes the most important results of the survey; the data is presented both in text form an d diagrammatically.</p>
